Tree. Geographic distribution: Australia.
General. Heartwood basically brown to red to purple. Sapwood colour distinct from heartwood colour. Density 0.75–0.84–0.95 g/cm³.
Vessels. Vessels present. Wood diffuse porous. Vessels arranged in a diagonal and/or radial pattern and no specific pattern (diagonal (oblique) pattern weakly developed), exclusively solitary. Two distinct vessel diameter classes present. Average tangential vessel diameter 85–165–215 µm. Average number of vessels/mm² 5–9. Perforation plates simple. Intervessel pits alternate, average diameter (vertical) 6–9 µm, pits vestured. Vessel-ray pits with distinct borders and with reduced borders or apparently simple, similar to intervessel pits or different from intervessel pits, rounded or angular. Tyloses present, thinwalled.
Tracheids and fibres. Vascular or vasicentric tracheids commonly present. Fibres very thick-walled. Fibre pits common in both radial and tangential walls, distinctly bordered.
Axial parenchyma. Axial parenchyma apotracheal, or paratracheal. Apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse-in-aggregates. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and vasicentric. Axial parenchyma as strands. Average number of cells per strand: 4(–6). Axial parenchyma cells without contents.
Rays. Rays 12–16 per tangential mm, multiseriate, 1–2 cells wide (-3). Rays with multiseriate portions as wide as uniseriate portions present. Height of large rays up to 500 µm. Rays composed of a single cell type (homocellular), or two or more cell types (heterocellular); homocellular ray cells procumbent. Heterocellular rays with square and upright cells restricted to marginal rows, mostly 1 marginal row of upright or square cells. Ray cells regularly with reddish brown contents.
