Habit. Perennial vine. Large stems prickles absent.
Branchlets. Branchlet prickles absent. Branchlet hairs simple or absent. Branchlet stellate hairs absent. Branchlet simple hairs absent or antrorse, curved, not gland-tipped, 0.2–0.3 mm long, short glandular hairs absent.
Leaves. Leaves lanceolate or ovate, 2–6 cm long, 0.7–3 cm wide, entire. Leaf apex obtuse or acute, base cuneate or obtuse. Petioles 1–2 cm long, prickles absent. Axillary leaves absent.
Upper leaf surface. Upper leaf surface green, prickles absent. Upper leaf surface stellate hairs absent, protostellae absent, absent from surface. Upper leaf surface simple hairs absent or antrorse, curved, very sparse or confined to major veins, not gland-tipped. Upper leaf surface short glandular hairs absent.
Lower leaf surface. Lower leaf surface green, prickles absent. Lower leaf surface stellate hairs absent. Lower leaf surface simple hairs absent or antrorse, curved, very sparse or confined to major veins, not gland-tipped. Lower leaf surface short glandular hairs absent.
Inflorescence. Inflorescence terminal, branched (paniculate to corymbose), common peduncle 15–35 mm long, rachis prickles absent, 10–30-flowered, with all flowers bisexual. Flowers 5-merous. Pedicels at anthesis 10–15 mm long, prickles absent. Calyx tube at anthesis 2–3 mm long. Calyx lobes at anthesis hemispherical or deltate, 1–1.5 mm long. Calyx prickles at anthesis absent. Calyx stellae absent. Calyx simple hairs absent. Calyx short glandular hairs absent. Corolla white, 9–15 mm long, shallowly lobed, inner surface with simple hairs. Anthers 2–4 mm long. Ovary glabrous. Functional style 5 mm long.
Fruits. Fruiting calyx prickles absent. Mature fruits 10–30 per inflorescence, globular, 6–9 mm diameter, black or purple, shiny, pedicels 15 mm long. Seeds white or pale yellow, 2–3 mm long.
Distribution and habitat. New South Wales, Victoria. NSW: North Coast, Central Coast, South Coast.
