Morphology. The fruit-bodies producing basidia and basidiospores; gelatinous and somewhat translucent when moist (?). The basidia modified; transversely septate (auricularioid).
The hyphae with clamp connections. The hyphal walls lamellate, with a thin, electron-dense outer layer and a relatively thick, electron-transparent inner layer. The hyphae with dolipore septa (but these without parenthesomes).
British representation. 1 species in Britain; Phragmoxenidium.
World representation. 1 species; genera 1. Europe.
Classification. Basidiomycota; Basidiomycetes; Tremellomycetidae; Tremellales.
